Job description
We’re seeking a skilled Medical Moulding & Casting Technician—an expert in life-casting, mould making, and animatronics—to join our dynamic production team. In this role, you’ll craft highly detailed, life-like anatomical moulds and integrate animatronic elements to produce realistic, functional simulation models.
Main Duties:
Key Responsibilities
Life Casting & Mould Making
Perform life-casting of human anatomical features using medical-grade silicone, alginate, plaster, etc.
Create and maintain positive models and negative moulds replicating tissues, organs, and body structures.
Utilise 3D scanning and printing to refine and reproduce precise anatomical data.
Prototyping & Development
Collaborate with engineering/design teams to develop new simulation prototypes.
Ensure anatomical accuracy and compliance with medical standards.
Research and test innovative materials and techniques to enhance durability and realism.
Animatronic Integration
Work alongside electronics engineers to embed animatronic systems (e.g., breathing, heartbeat, movement).
Design and troubleshoot internal mechanical supports for seamless functionality.
Maintain and calibrate animatronic components for reliable performance.
Material Handling & Safety
Safely handle and store medical-grade casting materials.
Adhere to company safety protocols and maintain an organised workspace.
Perform routine equipment maintenance and quality checks.
Quality Control & Documentation
Inspect finished models for consistency in texture, dimensional accuracy, and functionality.
Document process parameters, material batches, and production notes.
Collaborate with production teams to resolve any discrepancies.

Coalville: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Ideal Candidate Profile:
Experience:
Minimum 2–3 years in medical mould making, life casting, or related technical role.
Technical Proficiency:
Skilled in silicone, alginate, plaster casting, and resin work.
Familiarity with vacuum forming, lamination, and 3D printing workflows.
Basic knowledge of animatronic and electromechanical systems.
Additional Skills:
Strong attention to anatomical detail and dimensional accuracy.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Understanding of human anatomy and physiology is a plus.
Education:
Degree or certification in Medical Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Sculpture, Industrial Design, or similar.
Formal training in animatronics or electromechanics highly desirable.
Eligibility:
Must be eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
Reliable commute to Coalville or willingness to relocate prior to start.
